This piece is part of the collection "FIBER ALIVE" / Possibly the most tragic story in this collection, the isolated Falkland Islands Wolf was so friendly and curious that settlers reported the animals would walk right up to them. More foxlike than wolflike, the creatures were hunted for their fur and poisoned for their wrongfully accused threat to settler sheep. The islands have no forests, and there was nowhere for them to hide. Their lack of fear in humans made them unfortunate, easy targets for brutal bait and switch killings of the animals. They were extinct in 1880.
