This piece is part of the collection "FIBER ALIVE" / Labeled as extinct in 2003, they once inhabited large areas of central Asia. Their bodies were not quite as massive as Bengal tigers, and they are most closely related to Siberian tigers. The Caspian tigers were found to have a brighter coat color that was more yellowish than orange and long, narrow stripes that were more brown or cinnamon colored. Not only were these animals in competition with humans for prey, but humans would regularly hunt for sport or clear predators from forests and transform their habitat into farmland. We don't have any actual behavioral data in their natural habitat. The tiger is yet another iconic animal that is misunderstood and has no chance when it comes to surviving humans.
