In Root and Bloom, the boundary between woman and nature has dissolved entirely. Bare branches crown her, peonies bloom where roots might otherwise take hold, and vines of ink leaves trace across her collarbone like something growing from within. A fox curls around her shoulders, a companion. Wild answering wild.

The piece speaks to a kind of becoming that isn't linear, the way growth in nature never is. Branches fork instead of climbing straight. Berries cluster where they please. A woman roots herself in an unexpected place and blooms out of anyone else's timeline. Her steady unflinching gaze is earned rather than given, the quiet confidence of something that has weathered a winter and come out flowering anyway.

Root and Bloom suggests that a woman's growth is never separate from the natural world. It is always the same cycle, watched from a different angle. Roots first. Then bloom.
