Katya Gorecki
Katya creates pockets of whimsical creatures and vibrant landscapes in watercolor and ink. Her work invites viewers to escape into her cozy cosmology, blending inspiration from the Pacific Northwest forests of her childhood with her research on myth and science fiction. Each piece extends a fictional universe where artist and audience co-create the lore of world-eating monsters that choose to be protectors, spirits tucked into trees, and other hidden secrets yet to be found.

Katya Gorecki
Katya is a Portland-based artist specializing in landscapes and mythic creatures in watercolor and ink. Her work combines a childlike exploration of the external world with introspection grounded in her research into myth, science fiction, and American cultural history during her PhD at Duke University. Her artistic work extends her commitment to world-building- fictional and real - through art, community building, research, and teaching. She is also a board member and education consultant at Digital Dabblers, a non-profit providing accessible art community and education in Portland, Oregon.
