Description: The largest falcons in the world, Gyrfalcons are known for their large size and speed. They have a variety of colors of plumage ranging from white to almost black. Choosing to show off these characteristics, I decided to paint one with white plumage and mottled gray spots sitting on a borrowed tree nest.
Overall description of materials: Original mixed media paintings on handmade papers, with gouache, embroidery threads and beads . The size of each painting is approximately 5" x 7" and is mounted in a float frame. The overall size of the frame is approximately 6"x8". It comes varnished with 2 coats of Krylon Kamar spray varnish to ensure protection from sunlight over time.
The frame is handmade in my home studio from pinewood and has the scene extended on a matching background in gouache paint with two layers of Krylon spray varnish and two layers of Liquitex Matte varnish. It comes in two parts that are attached with screws on the back. If ever need be, the painting can be detached from the outer frame by removing the said screws. Artist's signature with the date on the back of the frame.
