Artist Statement:
In the chaos of my childhood, I found solace in my imagination. Creating art is essential to me; it centers me when life feels overwhelming. I enjoy drawing, painting, and sculpting, often blending these media.
For the past 12 years, my work, Mysterious Others, features whimsical creatures that have always accompanied me. I follow the textures and colors that draw my attention, leading me to beings hidden just out of view. In their presence, I create dolls, figurines, and illustrations, each piece a talisman of intention.
I hope my work connects viewers to their imagination and wonder, bridging the gap between adults and children. I aim to inspire storytelling, emotional expression, and a sense of nostalgia. This is my offering to the world. Thank you for being here.
About This Piece
Sanctuary of the Luminous Bloom showcases the world of the Mysterious Others, depicting the birth of a new Queen of the Woods. In this enchanted realm, each Queen oversees different acres of wilderness, guiding the cycles of birth, growth, and death with loving kindness and gentle strength. They assign tasks to the Mysterious Others, such as adding fragrance to flowers, infusing magic into mushrooms, and teaching birds to sing. Curious creatures gather from their woodland hideouts to witness the coronation, eager to learn which tasks the Queen will assign their children.
Symbolically, the lotus represents rising from darkness into radiant beauty, blooming into authentic expression after overcoming challenges. This piece honors the creative aspect of life, inviting you to explore your own experiences of transformation and nurturing your imagination and connection with nature and lore.
