Artist Statement:
My work explores geometry, color, and texture, influenced by Agnes Martin’s grids, the boldness of Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, and the architectural beauty of urban landscapes. Initially inspired by Warhol and Haring, I later discovered Martin's meditative grids, which shaped my artistic direction when I returned to painting in 2017.
I began with intricate grid paintings, evolving to incorporate geometric patterns from nature and architectural elements from Los Angeles and New York. This journey led to my Palm Springs and Key West series, ultimately culminating in my New Mexico series with its larger, organic shapes.
Today, I blend these influences into dynamic compositions using smooth wooden panels, washi tape, auto-detailing tape, and acrylic paint to achieve clean lines and matte qualities. The act of creating—experimenting with materials and refining techniques—drives my work. Through my paintings, I aim to convey the beauty of simplicity and the intersection of nature and architecture.
