Janetta is a North Portland–based artist whose work is rooted in a fascination with the natural world. Her paintings explore the tension between humanity’s relentless drive for advancement, productivity, and expansion, paired with our reliance on the slow, patient, and tender rhythms of nature. Blending realism with the fantastical, she creates dreamlike, surreal compositions that invite reflection on our place within—and impact upon—the world around us. 
 
Working primarily in oil, Janetta also incorporates acrylics, resin, and mixed media, with an emphasis on found and secondhand materials, including restored canvases.
