Christopher DeGon

Step into a realm where collage becomes a visceral commentary on our times. The Great Incongruence presents a meticulously crafted collection of paper tirades by Christopher DeGon that document the world through his lens, each piece shaped by lived experience. The series confronts willful ignorance and hypocrisy, depicts complacent citizens stirred toward revolution, and traces the uneasy choices of fence-sitters. Made from vintage paper, X‑acto knives, and adhesive—and charged with a palpable angst—these layered works invite viewers to explore the complex, chaotic beauty woven through each composition.

About

Christopher DeGon

His artwork is distinguished by a captivating technique that incorporates social commentary, storytelling, hyperbole, and repurposed clichés. His pieces invite viewers into a contemplative exploration, revealing layers of complexity with each encounter.

Rooted in his upbringing in the rural Pacific Northwest, DeGon was influenced by underground, counter-culture, and psychedelic artists, including Dave Sheridan, Bill Gawlik, and Ron Cobb. With a modest yet impactful career in the 80s and 90s graphic design scene, he contributed to Seattle's vibrant music culture through illustrative projects. Now based in Portland, Oregon, DeGon continues to refine his unique artistic approach in his studio.
