Often I make one of a kind work within a theme. This series is a study of my “Tide” texture that I have applied to wheel-thrown vessels. Each piece in this series is meant to be decorative, a conversation piece, a stand-alone object that invites curiosity. I challenge myself to use the slip (liquid clay) to make a dense coating of spikes and I nestle little cups of color within these spikes. The result is a striking combination of the raw texture growing from with the refined satin body of the vessel itself. I glaze with a satin soft-white glaze that has an exquisite hand feel and I layer it with oxides for the blues greens and grey coloring, the depth of color varies according to application.

Each piece is hand-made, one at a time, and will vary.
