I am a Portland-based multi-disciplinary artist, creating mixed media paintings, drawings, carvings, and wall sculptures. My work focuses on observing and developing the dynamics of patterns, transforming them into unique designs. I utilize repurposed wood, canvas, linen, and other materials to invent sustainable art.
Described as a complex minimalist, I employ repetition, texture, and color to evoke the movement and vibrancy of our world. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, I moved to the United States in the late 1980s. At 25, while living in NYC, I apprenticed with
Marlene Eidelheit, director of the Textile Conservation Laboratory, is restoring Medieval tapestries that now reside in museums and residences. This experience has deeply influenced my artistic practice.
My creations draw inspiration from Neo-concrete and Minimalist art movements, using environmentally friendly materials. My sculptures incorporate textiles, fibers, mirrors, and glass. My work has been exhibited in galleries across Oregon, New York City, and Seattle, and I have also contributed design work for the Portland Art Museum.
