Physical Thoughts
Artwork by the Venezuelan artist "B"

"Physical Thoughts" takes root in the serendipitous discovery of discarded photography books, featuring THE SARTORIALIST by Scott Schuman. The decision to experiment with collage using this book naturally evolved into a compelling inclination—painting over it. This transformative process became an alchemical fusion of aesthetic inquiries that had developed independently over the years, culminating in the emergence of a deeply personal and distinctive style.

The conceptual framework of "Physical Thoughts" extends beyond the works themselves. Born from diverse aesthetic explorations, the art becomes a testament to the culmination of these independent journeys. The story behind the thematic evolution of "SpamHeads," originating from a series of cyberpunk etchings influenced by the acceleration of technology and cyberpunk fiction back in 2010, as I delved into etching techniques, what was once cables took on a more organic appearance. After that casual chance, the cables became less frequent, making way for the emergence of more organic extensions that developed forked theoretical explanations, one of them the question, what if thoughts had physical manifestations. Ergo, the concept of physical thought was born.

An art practice with automatism and conscious intervention seamlessly intertwines the conceptual framework with tangible symbols and chance occurrences. This alchemical fusion becomes the focal point, revealing the inherent connection between the physical act of creation and the subsequent conceptual exploration of the final subject.

The recurring theme of "SpamHeads" within this collection is more than an aesthetic choice; it is a deliberate narrative woven into the fabric of the art. This theme, derived from contact with #spamart, implies the oversaturation of unsolicited media in the digital landscape—which is the background of most of our social interactions.

These creations carry an unconscious narrative, and the hope is that they connect with others, imparting the joy experienced during their creation. The goal is to foster a natural, intimate, and individual connection, detached from the artist's biography or preconceived notions. The exhibition's narrative extends from each artwork to the intimate selves of spectators, prompting a deeply personal connection with the themes explored.

"Physical Thoughts" stands as a culmination of artistic exploration, serving both as a summary of past endeavors and a foundation for new creations. My practice is ever-evolving, offering infinite room for growth within art. The excitement of pursuing art lies in this expansive space for development, where time is limited, and the possibilities are vast.

These mixed-media works find cohesion technically through the medium of Gouache, acting as the amalgam that binds the diverse mediums together. While it does not promise inherent greatness, it guarantees originality—a genuine representation of my individual expression

Spanish Art Critique by Cristián Arregui Aysén, Chile. Enero 2024.
