"I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my entire life and am absolutely amazed at the diversity of Nature’s splendor and resilience in this small corner of our planet.
I feel we as humans often disregard Nature’s patterns, beauty, and intricacies; perhaps they have become so common that we don’t even see them any longer. My art is primarily my ode to its beauty that is often overlooked. One way I honor Nature is to reuse wood that would otherwise be wasted; Reusing wood in this way affords the most respect possible to what Nature has created. The imperfections that come with using salvaged wood are something I celebrate, as it makes each piece unique, like all of Nature’s creations. When items have been used and worn with scuffs and scrapes, they can still be beautiful. I feel repurposing items that are no longer 'perfect' or useful is important; therefore, I primarily use reclaimed substrates in my art."

About
Carol Armstrong Lovano
" I started my creative journey in high school painting; in college I took darkroom photography and decided to major in Fine Art. After a few years I changed my major to English Literature. Art started off as therapy for my anxious brain, I enjoy experimenting with photographic transfer techniques. Many things that are considered disposable by most, could be used in art."
